P90x Reviews Day 1: Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X

by Jessica on June 3, 2011

So I started today, it was kinda crazy. I took it a bit slow since I didn’t know what was going on and how to do…anything.  But even though I feel like I barley did what I was supposed to, I still hurt like no other a few hours later. The workout was constantly go, go, go, so you kind of don’t realize exactly how much you’re doing until you look at it later.  And there were so many different kinds of moves, so you didn’t spend a crazy amount of time at each, and just worked a lot at everything, instead of just a few groups the whole time (which is what I am used to doing).

So you can see yourself, this workout consisted of:
  • Standard Push Ups
  • Wide Front Pull Ups
  • Military Push Ups
  • Reverse Grip Chin Ups
  • Wide Fly Push Ups
  • Closed Grip Overhand Pull Ups
  • Decline Push Ups
  • Heavy Pants
  • Diamond Push Ups
  • Lawnmower
  • Dive Bomber Push Ups
  • Back Flys
and then you repeat it all, ARG!

I am so tired now, but then you’re still not done, you’ve got the Ab Ripper X; it kicked my butt!!!! After that long workout, I’m not sure how I even was able to get through the whole 15 min. ab workout.  I know I’ll be able to do better next time now that I know what each of the workouts are, and don’t have to stare at the screen so much. But no matter how well I know the workouts, I don’t know how the heck I can ever keep up with these guys! They’re insane! It’ll be an interesting few months.
As with the fitness, there are also three phases of nutrition.

Phase 1: Fat Burner

I also started the recommended diet for this first phase today. The biggest point of this diet, is to get 50% of your intake to come from protein.  For most, that’s a lot, for me, that’s crazy. I usually have a hard time getting all my protein for the day on a normal diet.  I working on it though, and I am definitely going to try my hardest; I want this to go well so bad, so I want to do everything I can including the diet.  Today went well for it though. I went shopping and bought healthier food then I currently had, and more protein snacks on top of that. I am ready to lock and load!
