I’ve been very busy recently and have failed to do an update here so I decided I’d check in and say hi.

I finally added a few before and after pictures which I’ll also post below, as well as updated the side bar link structure so that it is easier to navigate the site.

You may notice that my reviews sort of abruptly ended a few months ago. No, I did NOT quit (heck no!) but the combination of my work and married life caused me to be so busy that I stopped doing the in depth daily reporting. But do not dispair! I have 35+ days of reviews for you all to read which should give you PLENTY of insite into what p90x is like and how it works.

I really think the biggest aspect of being successful at p90x is knowing from the get go that it isn’t going to be a walk in the park. Considering the results I obtained, I wouldn’t ever expect it to be easy, but the unknowing public obviously has no idea. This is super important because if you buy p90x without knowing that it is in fact a intense workout, you have a much higher chance of getting frustrated with it. The same is true with any endeavor in life; if you are prepared for it and know what the project entails, you will generally do much better.

It is for this reason that I started writing the reviews here. Before I got into p90x, I was the same way. I wanted to lose weight but didn’t know what program to pick. So, like most of you, I went straight to Google and started researching it. I wanted something that worked fast but didn’t take up a ton of time.

Needless to say, as witness by the pictures below, I am happy with the results. One hour a day is not a big deal if this is what you get out of it:

Convinced? Why not give it a try like I did? It can do nothing but help. Check out the links to the left or learn more on the buy p90x page.

This was needed. So needed. As if I haven’t said it enough already, I was so sore today. I worked a lot more than I had thought yesterday, specifically my back and arms. All those punches really do add up I guess, and even though it was fun, and I know I was sweating and everything, but I never thought it would have done that much work that I would have actually been sore today. Not just sore, but sore in places I didn’t know could get sore like that. Anywho, X Stretch. It was pretty slow paced, and I probably could have done it all on my own just as effectively, but it wasn’t that bad, and it was kind of nice to had a day where all I have to do it stretch and relax, and that’s still following the plan/not cheating.

I was going to do some extra cardio or some other kind of workout also today, maybe a half hour on the elliptical or something, but I just decided to let my rest day be a real rest day. Especially with how hard this first week has been for me, and how sore I’ve been every single freaking day, yeah, rest day is definitely a good idea. I’ll do that extra work another day…or not ; ) One week down, twelve more to go. Still feeling good about everything, no real problems yet or anything, and motivation is still high. I definitely already feel results from just a week of workouts. I have more energy, stamina has been getting better and I think I even look a bit trimmer. I also feel stronger every day, and really, that’s all I need. I don’t know whether or not Ive lost any weight, and I’m definitely going to make it a goal of mine to avoid the scale as much as possible. I am hoping to step on the scale and measure myself at the end of each phase. I know that will be a challenge, but I know that will help greatly. Nothing is more discouraging to me than that freaking little bit of technology, it sometimes can literally be my worst enemy, yet somehow I find it hard to avoid. Successful for far though, and that seems to be how the whole weeks gone. Week one on the whole: Success!

Today went great. I had a lot of fun, of course I did, Kenpo’s my favorite. I had a workout buddy today, first one since restarting the workouts again. I was glad to have someone to talk to and hang out with, it really helps keep up the stamina and really push it all the way through when you have someone else there watching; even if it isn’t a competition. I got a crazy awesome work out, lots and lots of sweating, and according to my heart rate monitor, I burned 635 calories! Woohoo for getting it done! I’m feeling pretty good about the results I’m seeing. I know its wayyy to early to be seeing any real results, but I’m feeling better, and I really think I’m already starting to trim up. Maybe I’m just crazy, but I already see a little bit of a change. Oh well, it only really matters how I feel anyway, and so far, still motivated and excited about continuing and finishing all the way through. I also found some new workout music too, so I’m actually really excited about that. It got me so pumped up that Kayla and I actually had a mini dance party by ourselves before the workout….for kind of a while too. It was really fun, and it got me pumped up and ready to start working! That could be a new tradition, pre-workout dance party….I would probably just wear myself out dancing too much to do the workouts, haha, so maybe that should just stay a special circumstance; maybe a few repeats every once in a while ; )

I didn’t know how I was going to do today. I was pretty sure I would either die today or just give up, already. I know I’ve been saying it a lot, but I was so sore today, and i had serious serious trouble standing up again today. And just moving in general. But the day actually went pretty well. It was hard, and it hurt a lot, but I got a great workout and was able to get through everything not just well, but really pushing it for the most part. There were a few times I had to take it a bit easier on myself, I’ve been pretty worn out this week with all the work I’ve been putting in.

I did workout earlier in the day today then I normally have been. It was kind of a nice way to start the day off, and I felt really…clean. I know it sounds weird, but working out and sweating out all those toxins really helped energized me and I just plain felt good. Yay! I’m already starting to feel like I’ve had more stamina and energy every day than I have before. Abs killed, of course, so that’s nothing new. I think I’m just going to do a bit more stretching later and hopefully not wake up so sore tomorrow.

So, still sore today, if possible, even more so. Sitting down and standing up hurts….a lot. My legs, my arms, my abs, and dude, my butt hurts like crazy! Today went well, ate well, shakes, vitamins, healthy food, all that good stuff. Although, other than the shakes, I didn’t get as much protein as I wanted to today, There was no lean meat option in the cafeteria at work today, just some crazily bad for you greasy something, and there was nothing but bacon bits to add to the salad. I really wanted that bacon, but I know lean white meats are the best for me right now, and since bacon is pretty much a snack for me, I know that if I have just a bit of it, I will keep wanting more and more. So that means no protein to add to the salad (they didn’t even have sunflower seeds! What kind of salad bar doesn’t have sunflower seed?!) and of course, no dressing again.

When I was done with work, I went straight to the gym, keeping up with the deal I made with my mom. I worked out there for about a half and hour again on a machine. I went a little lighter this time since, not only was I really sore, but I also needed to do my workout today still. Speaking of, today was Yoga, my least favorite workout of all. It’s just so long, and it is a lot more intense than you would ever think yoga could be. I just plain never want to do it. But I think for today, this is the perfect workout to do. I hurt all over, and I think any pull-up or lifting weights would have just killed me today. And really, what I need is just a good stretch, so yoga it is.

I have a confession to make, I hate listening to Tony so much, and he just keeps getting more and more annoying. Last time, I think one part of my bad track record with doing the workouts had to do with having no desire to listen to him that day. Especially after you’ve already done the workouts once before, it gets harder and harder to listen to the same bad jokes over and over again. So, I decided to not to have “put up with Tony” on my list of things to overcome. I watch TV or listen to music while working out. I have the sound on for the DVDs, just on lower. It helps that I’ve already done these ones more than twice already, so really, I just have to concentrate on the workout, and just glance over and listen when something changes. I think that’s one of the reasons I’m having better success already this time; I’m not hurrying to just get done with the workout, I’m actually taking my time to do everything right and get the best workout I can.

That is how I did today’s workout, with Tony on low. Yoga is still as crazy as I remember, I mean, I’m barley moving, and yet I’m sweating like crazy! I felt great though, this workout was just what I needed; I still got a great workout, and I was able to handle it all even with all the aches and pains from the previous days. I got pretty stretched out, and somehow at the same time, I was getting sore in crazy places that I didn’t know could even be worked! All in all, it was a pretty good day, still feeling motivated and ready to keep this up for three months. My only little cheat was after the workout, I made a snack of sliced apples lightly covered in cinnamon and sugar. It was my version of a reward, and really, it’s OK to have a little bit of sugar in your diet, and I have had zilch for I think almost a week or even longer, so I think I’m good. You can deprive yourself of everything, and it was something I needed after today.

I am so freakin’ soar today, and it’s from day 1! My arms are even worse than yesterday, and my abs! Oh man, my abs are so sore, it hurts to even talk sometimes! But I still have to keep up with the program, so, oh well. The day started well, except for the fact that I couldn’t sleep at all and I probably got less than three hours sleep that is. I had my nutrition shake for breakfast, and my vitamins, and then off to work. I’ve been trying to drink a lot more water now too, but the downside, I’m at work….bathroom breaks aren’t too frequent. All I’ll say is that it got…uncomfortable… at times. But healthy eating was a success at lunch, salad with no dressing, apple sauce and another nutrition shake.

After work though, on to the work! If I haven’t said yet, I’m so sore! So seeing that today was Shoulders and Arm did not make me all that happy. It was a great workout again, it burned, and I did push myself a bit today. I kept the weight low, but did higher reps so that I could get used to the what the moves are, and how much I can handle for each one. To be honest, even though I only used 5 pounds, I think there were only two of the moves that I would up the weight on. It was kind of a hard day. Really gratifying though, I wasn’t over worked, yet got a great workout; Today was a nice balance that way. Abs though, that kicked my you know what…again. But I got through it, and really that’s all they ask for, to “do your best and forget the rest”….ugh, I hate Tony. I wasn’t able to follow them completely still, but I did keep working and oh well, my abs freaking hurt and I am just proud that I didn’t just turn the DVD off and say eff it. I really must be committed to this thing.

I rocked today. I know, so modest, but seriously, I did. Today was my day off, so I got to sleep in and really catch up, I haven’t been sleeping much lately, so that was a really nice start to the day. Then I had plenty of time to do the workout and eat well, instead of having to just fit it in around all the other stuff I’ve got going on. Anyway, to the workout.

Today way Plyo, the ridiculously high intensity, cardio workout. I did the same thing that I did yesterday, I really tried to pace myself and not over do it like I always tried to do before. When I needed to, I modified the moved, and made sure not to do anything to hurt myself. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my left ankle lately, and I did get an ankle support to wear when working out, but I still didn’t want to test it really, better safe than sorry and all that. I started a bit slower at the beginning, still got my heart rate up, but I didn’t want to burn out by the end. I also ran in place sometimes when there was a move that I either couldn’t do, or was way to high intensity at this point for me. And guess what?! According to my heart rate monitor, I burned 784 calories! Woot! It really feels worth all that work when you a number like that.

Diet going well still. I actually asked a friend of mine to be a kind of accountability partner when it comes to what I eat. I think it will really help me stick to it if I have to tell her when I mess up. I know, and she knows, that i definitely don’t want to have to say, “So, I just ate a whole pizza…whoops” and I’m hoping that it will work. And what else did I do today? Oh yeah, I worked out…again. My mom wanted to help with this whole motivating to keep up with the getting healthier and working out. So she said that if I work out at a gym at least twice a week, she would pay for the membership. So today was my first day working out there. I spent about a 1/2 hour on the elliptical, and awesome, according to the machine, I burned another 380 calories! I know that’s kind of a lot for one day, and I probably should not do that again. I’m going to definitely get a protein heavy meal/snack right now, definitely looking forward to that one, so…..I’m gonna go do that! ; )

I did prepare myself though, both mentally and day to day living wise. I went grocery shopping yesterday, and I got only healthy food, not a single “bad” thing. Even the carbs I did get were whole grain and enriched. I got a lot of snacks, try to keep from having big meals, lots of small snacks to curb it. I also splurged a bit and bought a 14 day cleanse. I figured that, not only have I seen them work well for others, but as long as I’m going to be serious about what I eat, I should get rid of all the toxins in my system and be able to get the full benefit of the healthy foods I’m eating. I also packed up all the sweets in the house and gave them away.

Mentally, I am much more realistic this time around. I know how the workouts go, and I know what I can expect from myself. I am more realistic about the results I can expect. I put way too much pressure on myself last time; to give 110% every workout, every rep, everyday, to loose lots of weight, to get back to the size I was in high school. This time, I’m going to try to concentrate on getting healthier, and getting physically fit. I also set up more motivation for along the way, and not just for when I complete phase. It kind of became less of a reward for a job well done, and more of a, I done with this sh**, I need something. So now I am setting goals for along the way! Yay!

So anyway, first day back on track! Today went really well. The diet was just fine, I had already started eating better for over a week now, so it wasn’t very hard. Its still a challenge to get as much protein that they recommend, but I’m not going to freak out about it like I did last time. I’m going to get as much protein as I can, but I’m just going to make sure I eat healthy all the time, that’s my main priority.

The workout went well. I took it a bit easy today. Don’t get me wrong now, I still worked, I just didn’t freak out about getting big numbers. I also took it a bit easier the first time through everything so that I could get a feel for everything again, then the second time, I did push myself more. My arms are already burning, but I’m not sick to my stomach from over exhaustion, so you know, that’s good. Ab Ripper is just as awful as I remembered. Again, I didn’t freak out about following them exactly, just to get a good workout, and get back into this thing without burning out in the first month. I think this is a good start for trying to achieve that, I just got to keep it going, stay motivated, and just work. We’ll see how it goes this time around, but I am really motivated, and at this point its pretty much make it or break it for me. I’ve bought the dress, and there is just over 4 months left till the wedding. Either I get it in gear and really commit, or not. There is really no more time left as a buffer for being wishy washy about getting in better shape.

So, this didn’t exactly work out the way I had planned. I was not only going to do the workout to completion, but I was going to rock at it and get the most amazing results ever….Not so much. It started with me getting sick. I wasn’t able to work out at all, I was throwing up (sorry for the TMI) and wasn’t able to get myself out of bed, let alone try to work out. Then, once I got out of the routine of doing the workouts everyday, I just kind of stopped, and didn’t really care; or miss it at all. Not only did I go back to all my old habits, but I ended up gaining even more weight, not all that much, but enough to get discouraged and upset. I know it sounds silly, but the more I wanted the weight to go away, the less I wanted to workout. So I have to just suck it up, and do it.

This time though, I’m going to do things a bit differently. Mainly, my attitude and my approach I’m going to try to change. First off, I need to just relax about the whole thing. I will do my best, always, but I can’t put a ridiculous amount of pressure on loosing a bunch of weight, or inches, or how I need to do this better and better each time. It was just way too much to deal with, and really, is a freakin recipe for disaster.

Second, I need to forget about trying to impress you. For all I know, there’s no one even reading this, its silly to try to make myself look better just because I think someone might read about it. And really, that just added to all the pressure I was feeling, I NEEDED to perform well because I was going to end up writing about it. It was silly.

Third, Ive got to be realistic about the results that I will get from working out. Yes, I should get in better shape, and yes, there have been many stories about crazy awesome results, but that doesn’t mean I need it to happen instantaneously. I need to just be happy with the fact that above all else, I am getting healthier. Thats all the result I should be looking at right now. If I work hard at that, the rest will come. And by the way, I hate my freakin scale, it was one of the reason I got so discouraged last time; I would work and work and work, and the numbers would not change! Arg! It was so frustrating.

Fourth, support. I know I had support last time, and I’m not saying I didnt. I’m actually saying that it helped alot. It was great to have others to do the workout with me and encourage me as well. I felt accountable to others too, they were invested in me and my progress, and I didnt want to let them down; though that was also contributing to the added pressure I was feeling. I defiantely want to keep having workout buddys, and I hope they will still be willing to go through this with me….again.

Fifth, I tried this last time, but I did it kind of stupidly, motivation. Not only for a better body and healthier self, but rewards in place for reaching a certain goal. Right now, I have one set up for the end of each of the three phases, (massage end of phase one, hair cut and color i’ve been wanting to get for the end of phase two, and rockin body photo shoot with friend at the end of phase 3) but I think I might also set up some personal goals that I can reward myself for. I havent decided exactly what they would be, but maybe something like, dinner date when I can do my first unassisted pull-up, or buy that dress I’ve been looking at for awhile when I can do 10 normal push-ups. I think that would help motivate in a way so that I’m not just “getting through it,” I’d be working towards something. The only thing I will for sure NOT do is set a reward for a certain amount of weight lost, maybe for inches, but not weight.

I really need to get this going, and I think I am in a better state mentally, to take on this challenge. I’m more realistic, and I know a bit more about what to expect as well. This is getting to crunch time for me, the wedding is just under five months away, and I really dont want to get married not feeling comfortable in my own skin. I think though, again, to be realistic, what my main goal for the wedding day will be to have nice toned arms. I think that looks so much better in pictures, and it is one thing that can make those few extra pounds feel like less. There, I have my wedding goal that has nothing to do with sizes to stress over, toned arms! Lets get to it!

P90x2

P90X2, the sequel to P90x, is going to be released within the next few months and we have an exclusive first look and review of the P90X2 program.

This P90X2 Review is based on information received by BeachBody, the makers of P90x and P90x2, as well as information from BeachBody Coaching Events.

P90x2 is in the final stages of development right now but is on track to be the next huge fitness program since the release of the original P90x. This program is designed for P90x graduates who want to take their fitness to the next level. Like P90x, it is a 90 day program, but there are major changes with this new program.

One of the biggest changes with P90x2 is that the workout routine is only 5 days a week. This is less then with the P90x program so you can imagine that the routine is going to be even more intense due to the less workout time.

Part of what is so successful in p90x is the Muscle Confusion concept. In P90x2 they take this concept to a whole new level with supersets, complexes, movements, and regular sets.

The P90x2 Workout involves three phases, and each of them obviously focuses on different areas. These three areas are Performance, Strength, and Foundation.

In addition, P90x2 brings on Dr. Marcus Elliot, who is a world famous sports doctor, who has consulted on the P90x2 program to make it even better from a scientific perspective.

I’m very excited about P90X2 of course I will be completing it as soon as it comes out. I can’t wait!
